Referred Pain / Nerve Pain (i.e Sciatica)

Sometimes the back can cause radiating pain all the way down into the calf! And yes it is as painful as it sounds! The poor nerves can get irritated and sometimes pinched as they leave the vertebra and go off down your leg. This can cause you pain that radiates down the leg into the calf. It can cause pins and needles, numbness, shooting pains, and potentially, muscle weakness. They say nerve pain is one of the worst types of pain and we can see that in our patients’ faces in the waiting room. With the right treatment we can settle the irritated nerves down quite nicely, this normally involves hands on techniques to gently open up the joints and holes the nerves live in. We do this by releasing all the tight spasmed muscles around the area, doing gentle nerve gliding techniques to restore normal movement, gentle traction techniques (with our hands rather than a medieval tortutre equipment).
