Hydrodilation Injection
Hydrodilatation (also known as hydrodistension) is a medical procedure used most commonly to treat frozen shoulder. It is what is known as a high volume joint inject that involves the injection of a sterile salt water solution into the affected joint. The aim of the procedure is to stretch the contracted joint capsule from the inside and therefore increase joint mobility, reduce stiffness and relief pain. It is particularly effective in the early stages of frozen shoulder where pain levels can be very high and movement very limited.
Hydrodilatation has been shown to be effective in reducing pain and increasing joint mobility in patients with frozen shoulder and other joint contractures. It is a relatively safe procedure with a low risk of complications.
In conclusion, hydrodilation is a safe and effective option for the treatment of frozen shoulder and other joint contractures. If you are experiencing joint pain or stiffness, talk to your therapist or doctor to see if hydrodilatation may be right for you.
