Shoulder Pain

After back pain, shoulder pain is the most common kind of physical pain that we see, day in and day out. If you’re suffering from shoulder pain, you can be assured we know just how debilitating it can be, and just how to treat it!

Often patients with shoulder pain can’t sleep on that side at night (we really feels sorry for the patients with two sore shoulders!!). We feel your pain… Common complaints are: not being able to lift the shoulder(s) overhead, for women, difficulty in adjusting and doing up their bra and for both men and women, even the simplest of actions such as reaching back in their car to get something from the back seat can be a very painful task.

Because shoulders are so complex and there are a lot of different things that can go wrong, an accurate clinical diagnosis is hugely important, and this is something we are serious about at The Back and Body Clinic. All of our therapists go through rigorous training on shoulder assessment and after each personalised analysis, we can give a very accurate diagnosis in the clinic. Once the diagnosis is clear, the treatment plan becomes clear and that’s when things start getting better.

When it comes to shoulder pain, the importance of the strength in your rotator cuff muscles and the other muscles around where the shoulder blade is, cannot be underestimated. So, once we have used all the hands on techniques we have in our repertoire to restore normal movement and loosen off any tight pulling muscles, we can then focus on giving you the right rehab programme to prevent future problems.
