We love working with children of all ages, helping them recover from a range of conditions. From sporting injuries and growing pains to congenital issues. Our approach is hands-on and child-focused. We take the time to talk sensitively with both the child and their parents, helping them understand what’s causing the aches and pains, and what steps we’ll take together to get them feeling their best again.

We’re also passionate about empowering families beyond the clinic. We’ll equip you with the right tools and guidance for effective rehabilitation at home and support you in building strength and resilience to help prevent the issue from returning wherever possible.

Children’s Physiotherapy FAQ’s

Are all Children the same?

Every child is unique in their physical development, needs, and abilities. Therefore, we believe that it is so important to tailor each treatment plan to support your child’s individual growth, milestones, and sporting goals. Personalised care ensures the best outcome for your child’s physical well-being.

Signs your child may be at risk of injury

Look out for signs like poor posture, frequent falls, muscle imbalances, delayed motor skills, or favouring one side of the body. These may indicate an increased risk of injury. Early assessment by a skilled physiotherapist can help prevent future issues and support healthy development.

How can you as a parent, help your child

Parents play a key role in supporting their child’s physical development. Encourage active play, promote good posture, and follow through with physiotherapy exercises at home if prescribed. Regular check-ins with one of our experienced therapists can help track progress and prevent potential setbacks, ensuring your child stays strong, active, and injury-free. Remember to find a sport or activity that your child enjoys and wants to do.

Most common adolescent injuries

The most common adolescent injuries include growth plate injuries, sprains, strains and overuse from sports. Common names you may have heard include Osgood-Schlatters and Sever’s Disease. These are often caused by rapid growth, poor biomechanics, or repetitive activity. Early intervention can help manage pain, promote healing, and prevent long-term damage.

My child has pain, can they still play?

If your child mentions that they are in pain, continuing sports may worsen the issue. Pain can be a sign of injury, overuse, or a biomechanical problem. It’s important to consult a paediatrician or physiotherapist to assess the cause and create a safe plan. Early assessment and treatment helps your child recover faster and return to sports stronger and feeling reassured.

How much exercise should my child have?

Recent research suggests that children should get at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. This supports healthy growth, strong bones and muscles, alongside their overall well-being. Activities should include a mix of aerobic exercise, strength-building, and mobility. Our therapists can help tailor safe, age-appropriate exercise routines for your child’s specific needs if you have any concerns around their current level of exercise.
