Frozen Shoulder / Adhesive Capsulitis

Ouch! If you’ve suffered from frozen shoulder, you’ll know how painful it is – and so do we! Here at The Back and Body Clinic, we see so many patients come in looking really pained when they feel it coming on but the good news is, if frozen shoulder is caught early, our Physios can make a huge difference to how it feels, and sometimes even prevent it from turning into a full blown frozen shoulder. We would normally advocate an early steroid injection into the joint capsule followed by intensive Physio (sometimes patients need more than one injection). No one knows why it happens at the moment, but do we know it’s more likely in women aged 40-60, and in people with diabetes. Sadly, if you suffer from it in one shoulder, there is a 50% chance you will develop it in the other shoulder.
All frozen shoulders will get better eventually – between 18 months to 5 years – but we don’t want you to suffer for that long! If frozen shoulder is getting you down, come and see us here at The Back and Body Clinic, we can seriously help speed up your recovery process!
