Referred Pain / Nerve Pain

Sometimes the back can cause radiating pain into the hip and yes… it is as painful as it sounds! The poor nerves can get irritated – and sometimes pinched – as they leave the vertebra and go off down your leg. This can cause you pain that radiates down the leg, along with pins and needles, numbness, shooting pains, and it can cause muscle weakness. They say nerve pain is the worst type of pain and we can see that in our patients faces in the waiting room. With the right treatment we can settle the irritated nerves down quite nicely though; this normally involves hands on techniques to gently open up the joints and holes the nerves live in. Releasing all the tight spasmed muscles around the area, doing gentle nerve gliding techniques to restore normal movement, gentle traction techniques (with our hands rather than a medievil tortutre equipment).
